Tailbone Pain/Coccydinia

Falling or impact can easily break the tailbone, leading to prolonged pain. This bone may need to be removed or adjusted. In those who fall during pregnancy, no adjustment is needed. The bone usually corrects itself as the baby is delivered. Another pain originating from the tailbone is a condition called "weaver's bottom". It's an inflammation of the cushion-like part of the pelvic bone that touches the ground when sitting, resulting in  pain.

Local anesthetics, corticosteroid injections, and Impar Ganglion block can provide long-term relief to patients. A key characteristic of tailbone pain is the need for immediate treatment. Otherwise, the pain continues even after surgical intervention. Patients might need to sit on donut-shaped cushions for an extended period.
