Sacroiliac Pain

Another pain in the lumbar region arises from the joint that connects the tailbone to the pelvic bone. It is a form of pain that can be confused with lumbar hernia. It can occur due to reasons like lifting heavy weights, suddenly bending forward, reverse movement, or falling. Pain in the lower back, restricted movement and pain when leaning forward, pain when sitting for a long time, and pain in the hip region occur. Diagnosis can be made with plain radiography, CT, and MRI. For treatment, ice is applied to the area 3-4 times a day for the first two to three days, and drugs are used. If not sufficient, local anesthetic and steroid are injected into the nerves going to the sacroiliac joint under imaging. If the patient feels relieved, radiofrequency thermocoagulation is applied under imaging.
